Archimedes D. Garbes, M.D.

Dr. Garbes is the Director of Cytopathology and has been a staff pathologist at Incyte Diagnostics since 1998. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, dermatopathology and cytopathology.

After obtaining his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines, Dr. Garbes completed a rotating internship and a residency in internal medicine at Philippine General Hospital in Manila, Philippines.
Dr. Garbes fulfilled one year of training in internal medicine at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, and completed a residency in pathology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Following this, Dr. Garbes completed the Geisinger Clinic and Susquehanna University’s Physician Management Education Program.
During his 17 year tenure as the Director of the Cytology Laboratory at Geisinger Medical Center he reviewed gynecological and non-gynecological cytology and fine needle aspirations (FNAs), in addition to his administrative responsibilities. His work in non-gynecological cytology included the performance and interpretation of FNAs. He also interpreted selected dermatopathology cases (punch biopsies of inflammatory dermatoses and direct immunofluorescence), and muscle biopsies utilizing enzyme histochemistry.
While at Geisinger Medical Center, Dr. Garbes supervised pathology residents in surgical pathology and cytology and was a member of the Cancer Committee. He participated in monthly dermatology grand rounds, gave histopathology conferences to dermatology residents and lectures to medical technology students and histotechnology students.
Dr. Garbes is currently licensed in the states of Washington, Pennsylvania and New York.
In addition to his professional memberships in the King County Medical Society and the Washington State Medical Association, Dr. Garbes is actively involved with the Filipino-American community of Western Washington through his membership in the Filipino American Physicians of Washington (FAPWA) and the Beta Sigma Fraternity Northwest, supporting their regular medical missions to underserved areas in the Philippines.
