InCyte Pathology, PS announced today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase Davis-Sameh-Meeker Laboratories (DSM) in Walla Walla, Washington.  The expected closing date for the sale is April 1, 2011.  InCyte Pathology is an anatomic pathology reference lab serving physicians and hospitals throughout the Northwest.  The company is owned and operated by pathologists with a primary mission to provide patients with comprehensive anatomic laboratory services.

DSM Laboratories has provided clinical and anatomic pathology services in the Walla Walla community for 63 years.  Abbas Sameh, M.D., owner of DSM Laboratories, sought a sale to a pathology group that would continue to provide excellent pathology services to the community upon his retirement.  InCyte Pathology provides pathologist expertise in eight (8) subspecialties.  They include Dermatopathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Hematopathology, Gynecologic Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Renal Pathology, Urologic Pathology and Placental Pathology.  In addition, InCyte Pathology has an extensive menu of immunohistochemistry antibodies, fluorescent in-situ hybridization and molecular testing — all of which meet the needs for existing patients in the Walla Walla community.

“The transaction announced today is a significant step in the execution of InCyte Pathology’s strategy of becoming a major regional anatomic pathology laboratory,” said Gary Gemar, Chief Operating Officer.  “DSM has an excellent clinical reputation in the Walla Walla region and offers InCyte Pathology a substantial growth opportunity.  By utilizing InCyte Pathology’s technical and computerized infrastructure to build on DSM’s strong client base, we can provide even better service to clinicians in southeastern Washington, Eastern Oregon and Idaho.”

InCyte Pathology will continue to run the lab at its current location in Walla Walla.  Alan P. Peterson, M.D. and Jon V. Rittenbach, M.D will continue to oversee the medical duties of the lab.  Both Dr. Peterson and Dr. Rittenbach are Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty fellowship training in Surgical Pathology.  Dr. Peterson is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he completed his internship and residency.  Dr. Rittenbach is a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where he completed his internship and residency.  Dr. Rittenbach is the Clinical Laboratory Medical Director at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.  Dr. Peterson is the Clinical Laboratory Medical Director at Walla Walla General Hospital.
