Felix Martinez, MD:
The pathologists and staff at Incyte Diagnostics recently held a memorial and balloon release ceremony for Dr. Felix Martinez, an Incyte pathologist for over 29 years. Tom Rehwald, CEO and Gary Gemar, COO, announced the establishment of a scholarship program in his honor to benefit Incyte employees seeking continuing education. Additionally, a donation to Christ Kitchen was made in his name, and was presented to his wife Jan, who founded Christ Kitchen, an organization to which Dr. Martinez and his family were devoted.
Dr. Martinez served as Incyte’s Director of Cytopathology, editor and founder of Incyte’s quarterly newsletter, and was a longtime champion of continuing education. He provided many educational programs on Pap collection, HPV testing, fine-needle aspiration techniques and slide preparation to physician offices and clinics over the years. He also served as a lecturer for the University of Washington’s WWAMI regional medical education program.
Dr. Martinez had volunteered with his family as a pathologist overseas in Kenya, Nepal and Vietnam. He was an avid fly fisherman, and had traveled the world with family and friends to explore new fishing horizons. He will be greatly missed.
