Ayumi I. Corn, M.D.

Dr. Corn is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and she completed her residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.

During her residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, the catastrophic bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City took place. Dr. Corn assisted in body identification and shrapnel recovery for the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office in the aftermath of this tragedy.
Dr. Corn later completed a hematopathology fellowship at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, NM.
Prior to joining Incyte Diagnostics in 2011, Dr. Corn was a hematopathologist at Integris Baptist Medical Center Diagnostic Pathology Services, where she served on the Medical Quality Committee. At the same time, she was a clinical assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Department of Pathology in Oklahoma City, OK.
As medical director of laboratory services Dr. Corn participated in the institutional review board and emergency department committee at Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, TX. She was also the laboratory medical director at East Texas Medical Center-Carthage in Carthage, TX.
Dr. Corn has been involved in several research projects including: paraffin fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis of follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma and Burkitt lymphoma; isolation of helix- loop-helix genes involved in adipocyte differentiation; isolation of actin genes in Calliphora erythrocephala; isolation and characterization of human proteoglycan genes; and tyrosinase activity levels in human skin.
Dr. Corn is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology. In addition, she has subspecialty interests in bone marrow & lymph node pathology, flow cytometry and molecular pathology. Dr. Corn has experience serving as a Laboratory Inspector for the College of American Pathologists.
