Veronica Thoroughgood, M.D.

Dr. Thoroughgood joined Incyte Diagnostics in 2004. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology. She received her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Dr. Thoroughgood completed a gynecology residency at Dr. Bernardo Houssay V. Lopez Municipal Hospital in Argentina. During that time she became particularly interested in cervical pathology, and decided to pursue an anatomic and clinical pathology residency in the United States at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA and the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK.
 
At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Thoroughgood completed a fellowship in cytopathology, where close interaction with clinicians and radiologists was encouraged, expected and facilitated. During her training, she lead the Cervical Pathology Clinical Pathologic Correlation Conference. She also collaborated on a daily basis with the radiology and surgery departments during ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirates of breast lesions to support a team approach to triage, and to expedite the management of patients with breast lesions. She remained at the University of Alabama as an interim staff Instructor in the Department of Pathology.
 
Prior to moving to Seattle, WA, she was a general pathologist at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, GA. Dr. Thoroughgood is currently licensed in the states of Washington, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
 
While she lived in Argentina in the 1980’s, Dr. Thoroughgood enjoyed collaborating as a wilderness medical doctor during mountaineering expeditions in Patagonia and Bolivia. She also participated in a multidisciplinary community outreach program benefiting rural indigenous populations in Patagonia.
