Specimen Collection / Processing Instructions |
Urine, 24 hour collection - Collect urine in a dark bottle. For 24 hour urine collections, glucose may be preserved by adding 5 mL of glacial acetic acid to the container before collection. Unpreserved urine samples may lose up to 40% of their glucose after 24 hour storage at room temperature. Therefore, keep samples on ice during collection.
