General Information |
Clinical assay interference and limitations: Patients on direct thrombin inhibitors such as hirudin (Refludan), bivalirudin (Angiomax), dabigatran (Pradaxa), argatroban (Novastan) or anti-Xa drugs such as rivaroxaban (Xarelto), apixaban (Eliquis) and edoxaban (Savaysa), may interfere with this assay and lead to falsely positive results. For patients on Xa inhibitor, order Hexagonal Phospholipid assay (HEXPI) instead. When clinically indicated, Hexagonal Phospholipid assay (HEXPL) will be reflexively added for diagnosis with an additional charge. NOTE: Results will be reviewed/Interpreted by an MD and a professional fee is billed. If an MD review is not desired, see Lab Mnemonic: LUPN = Lupus Anticoagulant without Interpretation. Outside clients should fill and submit the Coagulation Patient Clinical History Form available below.
