| Specimen Collection / Processing Instructions |
Preferred: Collect 5 mL Lithium-Heparin in a 7 mL non-gel tube (if using 4 mL Lithium-Heparin non-gel tubes collect 2 full tubes), Transport tube(s) refrigerated within 40 hours of collection. Friday collections should be received the same day of collection due to weekend operating hours. Alternate: This method is only available to locations that can process as follows: 1. Collect 1 mL minimum in each of the QuantiFERON TB Gold PLUS (4 tube set) tubes. 2. Incubate the QuantiFERON TB Gold PLUS (4 tube set) within 16 hours of collection for 16-24 hours. 3. Centrifuge the incubated QuantiFERON TB Gold PLUS (4 tube set) tubes for 15 minutes at 2,000-3,000 RCF (g). 4. Transport incubated/centrifuged QuantiFERON TB Gold PLUS tubes refrigerated. |
