General Information

ABO/Rh determines the blood group (ABO) and Rh type (pos or neg) of prenatal/postpartum patients. ABS detects antibodies directed against non-ABO red blood cell antigens during pregnancy. The Blood group, Rh type, and Antibody Screen of expectant mothers may indicate potential for hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn. Rh typing is also used to determine Rh immune globulin candidacy for prenatal and postpartum patients. For blood grouping, Rh typing and antibody screening for any other patient population, please reach out directly to a local blood bank.
